The Cross and the Switchblade

The Cross & The Switchblade is a true story that has impacted me ever since I first read it. I now find myself reading at least once a year. It goes through David Wilkerson’s journey to New York City and what God had called him there for. This book strikes you right at the heart. Through the actions of David Wilkerson towards Nicky Cruz you are really able to see the love God has for Cruz. You also get to witness the astonishing boldness of Wilkerson as you read.

If there was anything that stood out to me the most in this book it was a dialogue that happened between Cruz and Wilkerson. Here is the excerpt from the book:

“Nicky Cruz: You come near me and I’ll kill you!

David Wilkerson: Yeah, you could do that. You could cut me up into a thousand pieces and lay them in the street, and every piece will still love you.”
David Wilkerson, The Cross and the Switchblade

This is the true love of Jesus Christ a love that says there’s nothing you could do to stop me from loving you. Bottom line is this book show the very beginnings of Teen Challenge a ministry very close and dear to my heart. It shows that one man can make a huge impact on the world if he submits to God. This is truly a inspiring story that reminds me of the boldness we are called to in Proverbs 28:1:

“The wicked flee when no man pursues, but the righteous are bold as lions.”

If you get the chance I do recommend reading the book as well as watching the movie.

So Little We Are, With Such Massive Dreams

Have you ever just took the time and just thought of your past dreams and where you would be if you actually pursued them? We all are like children really if you think about we are these tiny things in a big big world, yet we have these God sized dreams. What are some of the dreams you wish you would have pursued? I only really recall one I wish I would have pursued and you may laugh at me because of it but I wanted to be a Power Ranger. Yes that’s right one of those martial artist in spandex suits and a mask,so now you know I can geek out. Had I known the steps to become an actor that would play a ranger I probably would have worked on acting more as a child.

God gives us God sized dreams to pursue, I remember being 7 years old and being in kindergarten and on career day we were asked to draw a picture of what we wanted to be when we got older. Most of the boys in my class either drew construction workers, police men, or firefighters. I myself drew a pastor with a blue blazer, blue jeans, brown designer shoes, and a gold watch and  3 rings; kind of sounds like a guy out of a gangster film right? But it wasn’t it was almost a spitting image of the youth pastor at my church and at the age of 7 my desire to be a youth pastor began. As a child I had this huge dream that grew even bigger with an actual dream I had and ill mention that later. I know have been in ministry full time for 3 years now. I remember someone once telling me:

“God gives you your dreams”

– Unknown

God puts us on certain missions in life but we often find ourselves kind of looking at our dream like its to hard to accomplish. God never said following him would be easy but hey it is worth it. When I found this photo on my friends facebook I just thought man we live in a big world and man do we have big dreams. But I feel like the boy in the picture is looking out at this confidently. We have to be confident in our dreams and confident that God will be there to help us make the dream come into existence.

So you guys now the beginning of my pursuit to be a youth pastor started when I was 7 right? Well when I was 8 I ave my life to the Lord and when a did that a week later on a Saturday night I had a dream that I was preaching to youth and when I went to church the next day there was a guy who operated in the gift of the prophetic at times and he said after he prayed over me that God showed him me on a stage preaching to thousands o teens just like I saw the night before, but wait that’s not all 3 other people from the church who prayed over me that sunday had the same dream as well. Now that is called conformation.  Be sure before you begin pursuing what you feel is a dream God has given you, to find people who feel the same way about it.

Now years down the road God took the dream I had and grew it. I remember being in Florida School Of Discipleship and helping set up sound in Daytona Beach, Florida for the Assembly Of God’s Peninsular Florida Districts Youth Convention and as I was there I was asked to test out mics and as I was looking out into the empty seats of the arena and a comfort came over me at that point I knew that I wasnt called just to be a youth pastor but a person who would make an impact on thousands and if not millions of youth in my lifetime. That is what im working towards now and I know it wont be an easy road but I do know one day with God’s help I will see it.

Bottom line dont put a limit on the dreams God gives you, also never ever give up on those dreams because even though they seem large to you through the eyes of God they are small.

Abortion Doctor Turns Pro-Life After Crazy Dream

My Thoughts Before You Read:

I myself stand as a Pro-Life Advocate. Around 22 years ago my mother became pregnant with me after a high school party. She then later decided she did not want a child so she had started considering abortion. We obviously know her decision, but if it wasn’t for her being invited to church she would have aborted me. I myself am a miracle because of that alone.

I myself can’t bring myself to justify murdering an unborn child especially after having done so many things already. Having talked to my mother about this on several occasions she keeps telling me “I’m happy I made the decision to not abort you, having seen who you’ve become as well as what you’re continuing to do.”. That alone brings her so much joy, Think about if you were to get an abortion you could be aborting the person who finds a cure to cancer, you could be aborting one of the next world leaders.

I think you should also take a look at this way as well:

What if you didn’t want an abortion but your doctor gave you one without your permission? Would you take it to court? More than likely you would and the doctor would be convicted and more than likely sentenced as a murderer? So why is it that only the women gets to decide whether it’s life or not?

Now that you have had a good look on my view on the subject and why I stand as a Pro-Lifer, let’s get to the article. This is an interesting article as the abortion doctor spent 26 years doing what he did to then later have such a dream that not only changed his career but became the beginning pf the reshaping on his view on life. I could never bring myself to continue aborting baby especially after having a dream like that. It was very obvious God wanted to get his attention and He was successful doing so. Read the article below and see what i’m talking about. (Original Article Here)

An Article From CBN:

What Made This Abortion Doctor Turn Pro-Life

Stojan Adsevic dedicated 26 years of his life to performing a total of 48,000 abortions in communist Serbia.

That all changed overnight when he went to sleep and saw the faces of the children he aborted in his dreams.

Adasevic “dreamed about a beautiful field full of children and young people who were playing and laughing, from four to 24 years of age, but who ran away from him in fear. A man dressed in a black and white habit stared at him in silence. The dream was repeated each night and he would wake up in a cold sweat,” the National Catholic Register reported.

Finally, Thomas Aquinas, the ancient Christian theologian, appeared to him in the dream. When Adasevic asked, “Who are these children?” Aquinas replied, “They are the ones you killed with your abortions.”

The dream haunted Adsevic and stayed with him even when he went to work the next day. His cousin’s girlfriend came in to have an abortion, but this time something was very different.

“I grabbed something, crushed it a little, removed it, and threw it onto a cloth. I look, and I see a hand – quite a large hand. The child was 3, perhaps 4 months old. I had no tape to measure it.

… As I pull out the mess, thinking it will be bone fragments I lay it on the cloth, I look, and I see a human heart, contracting and expanding and beating, beating, beating. I thought I would go mad. I can see that the heartbeat is slowing, ever more slowly, and more slowly still, until it finally stops completely. Nobody could’ve seen what I had seen with my very own eyes, and be more convinced than I was — I had killed a human being.”

From then on, Adasevic renounced his job and refused to perform another abortion. He has told his story to newspapers and television stations throughout Eastern Europe in hopes of saving the lives of the unborn.

Christian Clubs In Public Schools A Battleground Where Teens Wage War

Where We Are Now:

According To The Article Below Gives You An Idea Of Where We Are Today On This Issue. You Can Find The Original Article HERE.

A Washington state school district has reversed its decision to ban evangelism clubs from its schools.

According to, Cascade School District initially banned the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) and the Good News Clubs from interacting with students due to a complaint from a parent.

The school district feared a costly lawsuit; however, they decided to reverse the decision after Liberty Counsel stepped in and explained to school officials that it is perfectly legal for the Christian groups to distribute flyers on school grounds.

The district then promptly reversed the ban. According to Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver:

“The Cascade School District made the appropriate decision to eliminate the unconstitutional policy and recognize that the Good News Club has equal access to students. Public schools cannot discriminate against Christian viewpoints and allow other organizations to promote their materials. We are elated with this victory for Child Evangelism Fellowship, for equal access and for our Constitution.”
The Cascade school district has reportedly been pressured into enacting policies against Christian groups in the past. The atheist group Freedom From Religion Foundation sent a letter to the district, complaining about Gideon Bibles being distributed on school grounds in 2013.

Liberty Counsel also stepped in in that situation to prove to the district that distributing the Bibles was legal.

My Personal Experience (6 Years Ago):

I recall being a leader and Campus Missionary to my old high school Oskaloosa Senior HIgh School and being met with a lot of opposition in trying to get a campus club started. I remember having a paper with all my rights as a student attending a public school in the United States and walking into the office asking to see the principle in hopes of starting the first ever christian campus club for my high school. I was shut down and denied the opportunity and compared to Neo-Nazi’s and other extremist groups. I was heartbroken I had lost the chance to have a campus club that would allow fellow believers to come together and just pray and have a bible study once a week. I recall also telling the principle that he was violating my rights by not allowing me to have the campus club, in fact I showed him my rights as a student but he kinda of just smocked at me. I had thought about seeking out legal help as it was a week later when a good friend of mine got in trouble for reading his bible in his free time during a class, he got suspended and I was filled with anger. But regardless I never pursued legal action and to this day I do regret not taking that long road.

As A Student What Can You Do To Show Your Faith?

There are several things you can do as a christian believer attending a public school system to show your faith that you have the legal right to do and here is a list of a few of them:

  1. Start A Faith Based Student Lead Campus Club (click here for more info)
  2. Become A Campus Missionary (click here for more info)
  3. Work On Getting A School Assembly Setup With The 7 Project (click here for more info)
  4. Prayer Before Lunch

What If I Feel My Rights As A Student Are Being Violated?

If you truly feel your rights are being violated first we have to go about this in a biblical manner which means:

  1. Know Your Rights (Your Rights Here)
  2. Confront Them Yourself
  3. If 1 on 1 Confronting Doesn’t Work Bring A Friend
  4. If After Bringing A Friend Notify Your Pastor Or Youth Pastor And Have Them Come Meet With You And WHo You Are Dealing With
  5. If It Doesn’t Work By Then Take It TO The School District
  6. If The School District Doesn’t Budge Contact  ACLJ (Contact ACLJ Here)

My Review On “Bold Evidence is Everywhere for God: Yet ‘Nothing’ is Proof for Atheism” By Mike

My Thoughts

As of a few months ago I moved to Granbury, Texas and I met one of the brightest minds I have ever encountered when it comes defending your faith (Apologetics). It’s astonishing all the evidence that is given in this article. I highly recommend reading his books as well as subscribing to his blog. Trust me you don’t want to miss out on what this man has to say.

Bold Evidence is Everywhere for God: Yet ‘Nothing’ is Proof for Atheism

Design is Everywhere and “Nothing” is Proof for Atheism

by Mike Robinson

evidence god
There’s proof everywhere for God

We may say that a living body or organ is well designed if it has attributes that an intelligent and knowledgeable engineer might have built into it in order to achieve some sensible purpose… any engineer can recognize an object that has been designed, even poorly designed, for a purpose (Richard Dawkins).

There’s a plausible case for understanding precisely how a universe full of stuff, like the universe we live in, could result literally from nothing by natural processes. … In particular, nothing is unstable. Nothing can create something all the time due to the laws of quantum mechanics, and it’s – it’s fascinatingly interesting. And what I wanted to do was use the hook of this question, which I think as I say has provoked religious people, as well as scientists, to encourage people to try and understand the amazing universe that we actually live in (Atheist Lawrence Krauss).

It is a jumbled mess, a swamp and a harebrained position, atheist Richard Dawkins’ view on the subject of design.

Dawkins imagines, “Biology is the study of complicated things that give the appearance of having been designed for a purpose.” No, designed biological creatures are designed. By all means call me Einstein!

“The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design…” It’s all so irrational, bumfuzzled and, for a famous academician, embarrassing. Barba tenus sapientes of philosophy. Mr. Dawkins has been roundly criticized and will change his opinion the moment after he breathes his last breath. Actually to a degree he already has, in his diatribe against religious people. “Religion is not off limits. Religion makes specific claims about the universe, which need to be substantiated. They should be challenged and ridiculed with contempt.” That’s good, not aiming to argue logically, but to seek to ridicule and insult religionists.

When one has no proof, evidence or rational argument, just call people names.

What is astonishing in this moment of wide, multi-abutted attacks is that the atheists have no proof for their view and the foundation for atheism is not only unclear, but such a mystery that many atheists are now claiming “nothing created everything.”

You want to think they are playing a levelheaded, fair game; that they desire an open minded discussion of the facts and a fair forum to adjudicate the views. They insist that there is no proof for the existence of God—that their blunt and callous dismissals of religion force people to utilize critical thinking apropos religion. The hostile comments of the New Atheists and their devotees are necessarily brawny. Good, they have dark souls and foul mouths; now let them posit some solid proof for atheism. They won’t do it.

They don’t have any!

That’s atheism’s dirty little secret.

The New Atheist groupies frankly hope that there’s a method to the madness; that the New Atheist professionals will, behind the scenes and with great clout, start pulling together evidence that can be used as proof for the non-existence of God. But this is more wishful thinking than facts and truth, besides; any evidence would need a foundation.*

You have to wonder if the weary fanatics, with tired eyes and hoarse voices, won’t think twice about following such a contorted bugle call. They have many reasons to distrust the New Atheist priesthood, and it is not all due to their recent faith in the nitwitted idea that nothing created everything or even their complete lack of proof for atheism. It’s the towering truth of Christianity. Once again, the commanding proof for Christianity shows itself at an epochal moment. It isn’t merely that atheism is devoid of proof; it is the impressive reasons people know Christianity is true—with the tired and unmotivated neo-atheists, who run their mouth—that is lethal.

Atheists know that they have to reach people’s hearts. But they also have to reach their minds.

They fail spectacularly on both counts.

And atheism ends in the extreme joy of nothing.**

*Rational pre-commitments assist in directing one’s investigation and analysis of the data (as well as its interpretation and communication). This admission is often difficult to get from some atheistic inquirers to acknowledge. What worldview can furnish the foundation required for a priori necessities and rational tools uses in science, analysis and research? Christian theism can deliver the ground for the a priori immutable universals utilized in rational enquiry; in principle, materialistic atheism cannot furnish the aforementioned ground. What is obligatory to account for scientific analysis is a first principle that has the ontological endowment to not only ground it, but to account for it and its preconditions—all the universal operational features of knowledge. The loss of the immovable point of reference, in principle, leaves the ungodly bereft of a resource necessary to construct the analytical enterprise. Without God, one cannot hoist the necessary a priori operation features of the intellectual examination of evidence. The Christian worldview supplies the fixed ontic platform as the sufficient truth condition that can justify induction, immutable universals, attributes, identity, and the uniformity of the physical world. But materialistic atheism lacks such a fixed ontic platform. Consequently, it fails to provide the sufficient ground required to justify enquiry and research. When anyone attempts to escape the truth that God exists, he falls in a trap he cannot escape. Without God, one cannot make sense of anything. The atheist has nothing to stand on (an ontic Archimedean locus of reference) and he lacks a rational apparatus to scale an epistemic ladder that would allow him to view reality with clarity. God and His revealed word supply men their only possible ground with the explanatory clout needed to account for critical and analytical pursuits. The ontological barrenness of atheistic materialism is just one reason the Christian should never grant the natural man the right to determine the criteria for testing truth claims—atheistic naturalism lacks an ontology with a shard of explanatory power.

**“Finally, and inevitably, the flat universe will further flatten into a nothingness that mirrors its beginning. Not only will there be no cosmologists to look out on the universe, there will be nothing for them to see even if they could. Nothing at all. Not even atoms. Nothing. If you think that’s bleak and cheerless, too bad. Reality doesn’t owe us comfort” (Krauss). God has the explanatory clout to account for everything, even analysis of the atheistic ‘Nothing Argument.’ Moreover, Christianity offers hope including eternal life. Atheism is built upon nothing, explains nothing, and results in nothing.

Pick Up Your Mat & Walk

Jimmy Carter (39th President Of The United States) once said:

“I hate to see complacency prevail in our lives when it’s so directly contrary to the teaching of Christ.”

How many o us have ever been in a situation in which we were just comfortable with where we were? Have you ever been in a place in which you wallowed in failure or self pity? Today we are going to go over a little bit on this subject and we are going to cover two main things.

  1. What is your mat?
  2. Are you comfortable?

John 5:8

Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat and walk!”

What Is Your Mat & Are You Comfortable?

Have you ever took this unique look at this scripture? We all have our “mats” and we often sit and wallow in them because we are waiting for God to intervene for us completley without any effort from ourselves. But we actually have to meet God half way. In this scripture Jesus is saying, quit whining about your situation and pick it up take to God learn from it and move on.

But really what is your map? I remember a few years ago as I was attending Florida School Of Discipleship I had come to a place in which I was complacent in my poor performance in my academics and had become comfortable being on academic probation. What I did was whine a lot about my situation. Then one day God gave me this very message. He told me to quit whining and own up to my circumstance and instead of continuing with my poor performance to change my attitude and put in hard work. It shook my world and I was no longer depressed. Anyways simply put your mat is your place of complacency. So what is your mat? Are you like I was and comfortable with that mat?

Really take time and think and pray about what your mat may be, then give it to God and dot forget about it but use it as testimony of what God has done. For in Revelation 12:11 it says:

And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.

So in closing I say challenge you:

Pick Up Your Mat & Walk

What Will You Give?

In this blog post I really want to ask you a serious question that will really get you thinking. But first we need to read from Mark 12:41-44(ESV):

Mark 12:41   And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. 42 And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. 43 And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. 44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.

This is by far one of my favorite stories from the Bible period. The widow had only two lepta which was equivalent to a penny  to her name, she was a widow so her husband had passed away, children have moved out by now or they are dead too, yet she put the lepta in the treasury box. This women gave God her the last of her money.

Jesus goes on to say “Truly I say to you, this poor widow has put more in than all those who are contributing to the offering box.” This women was in no position to give money yet she did. When God sent His son Jesus to die on a cross for our sins he didn’t ask for much compared to what He did was worth.Instead He asked that we dedicate our lives to Him.

Lets look at it this way, God gave his life for you and I shouldnt we want to give our everything to Him. Jesus wants all of us the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of us. He is simply saying “surrender unto me your everything”. That leads me to the thought provoking question I wanted to ask: What Is Your Lepta?

What I want you to do is take sometime in prayer after you finish reading this and surrender to God your two lepta, your everything. Essentially give God what He deserves which is all of you.
